Affiliate Disclosure

Understand when links may generate referral commissions and why monitoring results remain separate from commercial recommendations.

Last updated: 2 November 2026 Transparent product information

At a glance

Some educational or comparison links may earn Web Hosting Monitor a commission. Referral relationships do not change the technical results recorded by the monitoring service.

Possible commission

An eligible referred purchase may generate a fee.

Editorial transparency

Commercial links should be identifiable in context.

Independent measurements

Affiliate links do not alter check results or incident records.

01

What an affiliate relationship means

Some pages may link to hosting providers, domain registrars, VPS products, software or related services through tracking or referral links. If someone purchases through an eligible link, Web Hosting Monitor may receive a commission or referral benefit.

This generally does not mean that every external link is an affiliate link. A link can also be included solely as a useful reference.

02

How commercial links are identified

Where affiliate relationships are relevant to a particular recommendation, the page should include a clear nearby disclosure, such as “Affiliate link — we may earn a commission if you purchase.”

The site-wide disclosure provides additional context, but it should not replace a disclosure beside promotional content that requires one.

03

Monitoring data remains separate

Affiliate commissions do not alter customer uptime history, response times, SSL expiry results, DNS snapshots, recorded incidents or technical measurements. Monitoring results should reflect recorded checks, not commercial relationships.

A promotional recommendation should never be represented as the result of independent testing unless such testing was actually performed and documented.

04

Product comparisons and recommendations

Pricing, plan limits, terms and provider availability can change. Visitors should verify key facts on the provider’s own website before purchasing.

If a page makes a first-hand testing claim, it should explain the testing method and distinguish factual measurements from commentary or opinion.

05

Third-party purchases and privacy

External sellers are responsible for their own products, support, contractual terms and privacy practices. Web Hosting Monitor’s monitoring service does not automatically become a party to a purchase made on a third-party site.

A third-party website may use its own analytics or referral cookies. Review the provider’s policies before submitting payment or personal information.

06

Questions and corrections

If you spot an outdated product description, a broken referral link, or a recommendation whose commercial nature is unclear, let us know. Transparency and accurate information are more important than referral commissions.
